The Hummingbird with rosewood back and sides: an extra dimension to the icon that always sounded bigger than its size
The Gibson Hummingbird is one of the most versatile acoustic guitars the brand makes. Whether you're strumming hard in first position or playing melodic lines, the Hummingbird always delivers rich, deep tones with a directness and warmth that make the instrument ideally suited for singer-songwriters, rock sidemen, and everything in between. This Standard Rosewood version adds an extra layer of character to the classic Hummingbird formula: the rosewood back and sides give the instrument more brilliance, complexity, and projection than the traditional mahogany combination.
The Sitka Spruce top combined with rosewood back and sides delivers a tone that stands out for its clarity and definition, without losing the warmth that makes the Hummingbird so beloved. The LR Baggs VTC pickup faithfully captures that sound for stage or studio use, without compromising the instrument's acoustic properties. The TUSQ nut, saddle, and bridge pins ensure optimal transfer and clarity across all strings.
The mahogany neck has a Round profile with a rosewood fretboard, Mother-of-Pearl parallelogram inlays, and 20 frets over a 24.75-inch scale length. The Reverse Belly rosewood bridge and Grover Rotomatic tuners complete an instrument that combines the iconic Hummingbird look with the tonal qualities of rosewood. Delivered with a Gibson hardshell case.
