A familiar starting point, but clearly built for the bassist who wants more: the Mayones Jabba VF 5 Antique Black combines a J-J pickup configuration with a multiscale fretboard from 33 to 35 inches. The low strings get more length, while the high side remains more compact. This allows the recognizable character of a five-string J-style bass to meet a contemporary approach to string tension and playability. The matte Antique Black finish extends across the body, neck, and headstock, giving the whole instrument a subtle appearance.

The Velvetrone Noble VF pickups form the foundation for a highly versatile sound. The blend control lets you determine the balance between the two elements, from a fuller foundation to a more pronounced, articulate tone. The Velvetrone MUSASHI-3EQ electronics feature a three-band EQ that allows you to selectively make room in a busy mix or add extra body to a melodic part. You also have a passive tone control and an active-passive mini-toggle switch. The multiscale design provides a tighter feel on the low B string without requiring the same long scale length on the high side.

The sassafras body is combined with a bolted-on, one-piece maple neck with two carbon reinforcement rods. The ebony fretboard has a 20-inch radius, white pearloid double-offset dot inlays, and blue Luminlay position markers on the side. FERD WAGNER nickel-silver frets, a Mayones bridge, and Hipshot Ultralite Clover tuners complete the foundation. This Jabba is also extensively equipped for practicality, with a 6.35 mm Switchcraft output, 3.5 mm aux and headphone jacks, and a USB-C connection. Black Schaller Security Locks and a Mayones Hiscox hard case are included.
