This Dingwall NG3 gives Nolly's powerful bass tone a striking limited edition character
A tight low B and a finish you don't come across every day: this Dingwall NG3 Nolly Signature combines the familiar multiscale design with Purple-Blue Fade Swirl. According to the specifications of this limited run, only 25 copies were made for Europe. The model was developed with Adam 'Nolly' Getgood, known from Periphery, and focuses on bassists looking for definition and punch. The alder body and bolted, five-piece maple neck form the basis of an instrument that comes into its own both in a busy band mix and in precise studio work.
The scale length ranges from 34 to 37 inches, with extra length for the low strings. That helps keep the low B tight and clear, while the higher strings remain comfortably playable. The three Dingwall FD3n pickups with neodymium magnets offer a direct sound with a lot of articulation. With the Quad-Tone switch you choose between the bridge pickup, bridge and middle, bridge and neck, or the neck pickup. This way you move from a pronounced, compact attack to a fuller sound. The Darkglass Tone Capsule lets you precisely adjust your bass, low mids and high mids, even when playing with overdrive.
The maple fretboard has 24 narrow 'banjo-sized' frets and a radius of 9.45 inches. Licensed Hipshot Ultralite tuners, a Graph Tech Black TUSQ nut and separate Dingwall bridge units complete the hardware. The string spacing at the bridge is 18 mm. In addition to the master volume, four-way pickup selector and three-band EQ, there is an active/passive switch. The carbon fiber print pickguard contrasts with the special finish. This five-string bass guitar comes with Dingwall nickel strings and a padded Dingwall gig bag.
If you are looking for a modern five-string with control over the lows and its own look, then this limited edition NG3 is worth discovering.
