Crazy Tube Circuits Falcon Overdrive
The unmistakable Princeton and Tweed overdrive in a compact and simple pedal
In 2016, the Crazy Tube Circuits team built an amplifier on request that had to be able to vary between the sound of a 5E3 Tweed Deluxe and a 6G2 Brownface Princeton. They liked the result so much that they decided to put those same sounds in an overdrive pedal. The result: the Crazy Tube Circuits Falcon.
The pedal is actually very simple: You have control over tone, volume and gain and you can switch between Princeton and Tweed overdrive with the toggle switch at the top. But appearances can be deceiving: you can go in many directions with this apparently simple layout. Be sure to explore the range of the gain control, because it has a lot to offer. The Falcon is also incredibly dynamic and responds perfectly to your volume button.
The Tweed side obviously sounds a lot more "sticky" and chaotic than the Princeton side, especially on high gain settings. The Princeton side overdrives the low end in a very convincing way, as you might expect. The Crazy Tube Circuits Falcon: something different than your standard overdrive!
