The PRS Wood Library line exists for a reason: not every piece of wood is created equal, and the most beautiful specimens deserve an instrument that does them justice. The Artist Grade Quilted Maple top of this Special 22 Semi Hollow in River Blue has a figure and depth rarely seen outside the Private Stock department. The figured maple neck and Ziricote fretboard with Old-School Paua Bird Inlays also make the instrument special up close. The Smoked Black hardware contrasts sharply with the blue top.

Tonally, the Special 22 Semi Hollow is one of the most versatile guitars PRS makes. The two 58/15 LT humbuckers and the PRS Narrowfield in the middle complement each other perfectly: warm and full from the humbuckers, bright and open from the Narrowfield, and via the two coil split toggles, both humbuckers can be split individually for even more tonal options. The semi-hollow construction adds a natural resonance and airiness that gives the tone extra depth.

The mahogany body with figured maple neck and Pattern profile plays comfortably and familiarly. The Ziricote fretboard with 22 frets, 10" radius, and 25" scale length is a step above rosewood both tonally and visually.
