The Lakewood M-18: a Grand Concert with Ovangkol showcasing open-pore satin at its best
Lakewood hand-builds its guitars in Giessen, Germany, and the M-18 is one of the most complete models in their lineup. The combination of AAA European Spruce and Ovangkol back and sides is rare in this price range, and the open-pore satin finish on both body and neck allows the wood to resonate freely. The result is a Grand Concert that sounds bigger than its size suggests. Includes Hiscox hardshell case.
Ovangkol has a character that lies somewhere between rosewood and mahogany: a warm, balanced tone with clear trebles and a rich midrange. The AAA European Spruce top on a Scalloped X-Brace responds directly and dynamically, giving the M-18 a balanced sound that will appeal to both fingerpickers and strummers. The open-pore finish further enhances the wood's natural resonance.
The Mahogany neck with a C-shape profile and Ebony fretboard plays comfortably across 20 frets and a scale length of 25.6 inches. Schaller M6 chrome tuners ensure stable tuning, and the set-neck construction contributes to excellent sustain. The Ebony bridge completes an instrument meticulously designed down to every detail.
The Lakewood M-18 is a guitar that immediately commands respect — and consistently lives up to that trust.
