PRS SE Silver Sky Sedona Red: limited edition single-coil guitar

You don't see a Silver Sky in Sedona Red every day. This Defender Limited Edition is a limited run of the SE Silver Sky, the model that John Mayer developed together with Paul Reed Smith and which has since carved out its own place among the classics. The deep, earthy red hue, combined with the rosewood fretboard and the famous bird inlays, makes it an instant eye-catcher, but above all, it is a guitar that you'll want to take right off the wall and never put down. For those looking for their first serious electric guitar, or moving up from an entry-level model, this is a wonderful starting point.

The sound is classic and clear. The three single-coils provide that typical crystal-clear attack with plenty of definition, from sparkling clean in the neck position to those sharp, nasal in-between settings that fuel funk and blues. If you dial in some overdrive, the guitar continues to sound nicely open without getting muddy. The playing experience is smooth: the 635JM neck profile feels comfortable and substantial in the hand, and with the 8.5-inch radius, both chords and bends feel great under the fingers.

Technically, everything is in its place. The body is made of poplar, the neck of maple with a rosewood fretboard with 22 frets and bird inlays. The three 635JM "S" single-coil pickups are controlled via a volume knob and two tone controls, allowing you to switch quickly between sharp and warm. The scale length is 25.5 inches, the bridge is a 2-point steel tremolo for stable vibrato, and the vintage-style tuners keep the tuning nicely locked in. The guitar comes in a gig bag, so you can take it straight to lessons or rehearsal.
