The short-scale Sandberg with a vintage soul and an instantly noticeable color

The Sandberg California II VS 4 "Lionel" in Soft Aged Metallic Red is a short-scale bass guitar that stands out with its combination of vintage appeal and modern playability. The Soft Aged finish gives the bass an authentic, played-in character without it being a true second-hand instrument — it's a deliberate choice for players who appreciate an instrument with personality.

The sound is shaped by a Black Label Split-Coil pickup in a passive circuit with Volume and Tone. This may sound simple, but the result is direct and expressive: a warm, full tone with clear attack that works excellently for funk, soul, pop, and classic rock. The 30-inch scale length makes the bass particularly comfortable to play, even for players with smaller hands or those who play standing for long periods.

The alder body provides a balanced tone with ample sustain, while the maple neck with rosewood fretboard adds brightness and a pleasant playing feel. Aged Chrome tuners and a Sandberg bridge complete the vintage look. The bass weighs only 3.3 kg and comes with a gig bag. A short-scale with character, for players who want something different.
