The Dingwall SP1 gives the classic P-bass concept a multiscale character
Familiar lines, but a distinctly unique playing feel: the Dingwall SP1 Vintage Burst Gloss brings classic bass tradition and modern design together. This bass is largely inspired by the Custom Shop Super P. The starting point was a more affordable instrument that combines elements of Leo Fender's iconic blueprint with Dingwall's innovative features. That concept remains clearly recognizable here, from the classic Vintage Burst Gloss finish to the multiscale neck. For the bassist who appreciates a familiar look but is curious about more definition and different pickup combinations, this is a particularly interesting combination.
The Dingwall Dual-P neck pickup forms the full, round foundation of the sound, while the FD3n at the bridge adds a tighter, more pronounced voice. The four-position Quad-Tone pickup selector gives you both pickups individually, together in parallel, and together in series. This allows you to switch between an open combination and a firmer, more compact sound without an extensive row of switches. With the master volume and master tone, you then fine-tune the level and clarity to your amplifier and playing style. From supporting grooves to clearly articulated lines, the controls invite you to work with your touch and pickup selection.
The alder body is paired with a one-piece maple neck with a Medium Thin C-profile. The rosewood fretboard has 22 frets, dot inlays, and a 9.45-inch radius. The multiscale scale length ranges from 32 to 34.25 inches, giving each string its own length. A Dingwall Minimalist one-piece bridge completes the construction. This SP1 weighs 3.8 kg and comes with a softcase, making it practical to take with you to rehearsals and gigs.
Discover how familiar and innovative a single bass can feel. This SP1 is ready to show you firsthand what the various Quad-Tone positions add to your groove.
