Small-body classic: Gibson Custom Shop 1942 LG-2

This Gibson Custom Shop 1942 LG-2 is built to original specifications from the early 1940s and thermally aged to deliver an open, played-in tone right out of the box. From the first note, this instrument feels familiar—as if it's been part of someone's musical story for decades.

The LG-2 has been a favorite among blues and slide players for generations, and for good reason. Despite its compact size, this guitar is exceptionally well-balanced and remarkably responsive. The tone is clear and articulate, with distinct individual notes, while the midrange remains full, warm, and carrying—exactly what you'd expect from a small body with character.

The thermally aged red Adirondack spruce top gives this guitar a rich, mature tone with plenty of harmonic depth, resembling an instrument played for decades. The mahogany neck is carved in a period-correct profile, finished with silky-smooth rosewood, and traditionally attached with a composite dovetail joint for maximum resonance.

The AJ 1930s Burst VOS finish is a thin nitrocellulose lacquer, hand-polished to a subtle vintage patina. Details like the Golden Age tuners and the period-correct case underscore the Custom Shop quality. An authentic LG-2 that not only looks like an instrument from another era, but also sounds and feels like one.
