Ibanez JS2470CS: Joe Satriani's signature guitar with infinite sustain

The Ibanez JS2470CS is the guitar that Joe Satriani himself co-designed and has relied on for decades on stage. Built in Japan at Prestige level, it combines the refined playability of the JS series with one of the most exceptional features in electric guitars: the Sustainiac system in the neck position. Activate it, and your notes sustain endlessly, opening the door to feedback-driven expression, harmonic swells, and singing lead lines that no conventional pickup can match.

The alder body keeps the tone balanced and articulate, while the 3-piece Maple/Bubinga JS neck offers the smooth, fast playability that Satriani demands. With 20mm at the first fret, it has a slightly rounder profile than the ultra-thin Super Wizard, giving it a fuller feel that works excellently for both technical playing and expressive vibrato. The rosewood fretboard with abalone-dot inlays has a 250mm radius, slightly flatter than vintage, which facilitates bends across all 24 frets. The Prestige fret edge treatment ensures a finished, smooth edge along the entire fretboard.

At the bridge is the DiMarzio Satchur8 humbucker, which delivers the tight, harmonically rich tone Satriani is known for. Powerful enough for high-gain leads, articulate enough for clean passages. The Edge tremolo keeps everything stable during intensive use, locked by a locking nut. Chrome hardware throughout the guitar, supplied standard with D'Addario EXL120 strings.
