The Walrus Audio Fundamental Lo-Fi Delay makes echoes beautifully frayed
Not every echo needs to be tight and crystal clear. The Walrus Audio Fundamental Series Lo-Fi Delay turns repetitions into a moving texture, ranging from subtle pitch fluctuations to dark, distorted clouds of sound. Three sliders and a switch for the three programs keep things straightforward, even if this is your first delay pedal.
In AM, clear repetitions get a radio-like edge through filtering, light distortion, and wow-and-flutter modulation. Murk colors them darker and denser, allowing chords and melodies to fade into a wavy background. Echo opts for rhythmic multi-tap repetitions with an analog-sounding timbre. At short delay times, the taps are close together; with more space in between, a distinct rhythmic pattern emerges. This gives you a unique starting point for both subtle movement and striking lo-fi atmospheres.
Use Time to set the interval between repetitions, up to a maximum of one second. Feedback determines how many echoes return, and Mix blends the effect with your dry guitar signal, from completely dry to 100% wet. Hold the bypass switch to activate tap tempo; you can then choose quarter notes, dotted eighth notes, or eighth notes as a subdivision. Trails is active by default so that repetitions fade out naturally after switching off, but it can also be disabled. A compact way to add character and rhythm to your playing.
